Welcome! This site celebrates the glory of the seasonal, but unbeatable mellowcreme pumpkin.
The mellowcreme pumpkin is made primarily of corn syup. It is flavored with honey and gives off a subtle, yet distinct odor that reminds one of everything creamy and good about life. It is typically enjoyed as a Halloween treat, however impractical it may be for trick-or-treating purposes. (Mellowcreme pumpkins are not individually packaged. This is apparently not only good for the environment, but for inserting bite-size razor blades or other candy-tampering.)
People often complain about the early onset of holidays in this modern consumer-driven age. We would, too ā if it weren’t for these delicious pumpkin candies, which are available as early as September in some retail locations. This sort of availability tends to frustrate shoppers, as the early and inevitable purchase of holiday candy often leads to a diminished enjoyment of the actual holiday (which typically arrives two months later).
Pumpkin eaters, however, can only rejoice: these rare mellowcreme candies are featured on store shelves for two months a year, rather than three short weeks! You can’t compare the pumpkin to its homely sister, candy corn ā which, to be blunt, is as easy to acquire as a Junior Mint.
Mellowcreme pumpkins are not easy. These elusive confections delight for their purity, rarity and cute shape. Are they just candy? Maybe. Will they make you fat? Probably. But we at I Crave Pumpkins prefer to think of them as little pieces of hope. We hope you will, too.

I am an mellowcreme pumpkin addict. I’ve admitted there is a problem but will not seek help.
Rehab is for quitters.

I’m also addicted.
Funny, our local store just put out halloween candy out a few days ago, in the middle of august!

I am hopelessly addicted to mellowcremes (the multi-flavored halloween shapes specifically). There, I said it. Out loud. I live in New England where mellowcremes typically hit the shelves around mid to late august. Last year, I believe I went through 2-5 BAGS a week for a period of about 12 weeks. I probably gained at least 10-20 lb from mellowcremes alone. I literally struggle with this addiction every year, and so far things have gone well. But it is, literally, a constant struggle. I feel like a recovering alcoholic at an open bar when I’m at the grocery store. In no way do I want to quit mellowcremes. That would be a fate worse than death. I’m just glad I found other people who understand my dilemma.

I, too, join the ranks of Brach’s mellowcreme pumpkin addicts…I thought I was alone, but nope. They go back to childhood..Mom putting them on my birthday cake. Now it’s into November so I go into my self-imposed 12 step program and stay out of Walgreens.

Early harvest this year! I too saw them crop up this week at my local Rite Aid. I bought a couple bags. Far superior to candy corn and indian corn in my opinion.
Also, interesting fact: mellowcreme pumpkins have the ability to make Slurpees taste like vegetables. (They’re sweet, is what I’m saying.)
My dream is for them to one day come out with full-sized mellowcreme pumpkins. Ones that are as large as real pumpkins. They could sell them right there in the diabetes aisle.

My most recent Facebook status: Curse you, Mellowcreme Pumpkin, bane of my existence!
And one of my friends shared with me this delightful site! I am so thrilled to have found a support group for this particular addiction!

I love these. Got a bag for 0.99 at Rite Aid earlier this month.
